About Kai
Opportunities come to those who are prepared, thus executive producer, screenwriter and actress, Kai Destiny, practices persistence and consistency. With exuberant energy, she crafts projects across multiple genres and styles. Driven by a passion for writing and performing that emerged during her early childhood, she honed her ability to help people mentally escape even before she understood the formal title of producer. Kai and her twin sister were encouraged by their mother to explore their boundless creativity because she recognized the gifts she shared with her daughters were meant to shape new narratives. Described as the “greatest writer the world has never known,” her death left a collection of unpublished stories and poetry.
With innate diligence and inimitable storytelling, Kai honors her mother’s legacy by educating and entertaining audiences. Since 2016, her film production and talent management company, Da Yamms Entertainment has helmed the future of quality entertainment via groundbreaking projects. Focused on bringing value with keen strategy, she believes in staying ready to receive everything you desire and pray for in life.
Kai’s high school English teacher said it was unrealistic to believe she would earn a living as a writer, yet even then, she knew that someone else’s doubt did not control her success. She earned a full scholarship to Kent State University and after completing one semester, she left to pursue the path aligned with her purpose, at The School for Film & TV in NYC.
Her resume speaks volumes as she has lent her expertise to pivotal projects such as the award-winning documentary, Seeing is Believing: Women Direct, on which she served as an associate producer. She was also an executive producer on the short film Guard, starring Bronagh Taggart, from the hit British show, The Fall. The latter production also starred Michael McElhatton and Ian McElhinney of Game of Thrones. It was endorsed and supported by Gillian Anderson and Liam Nesson.
Known as the “Dream Maker” because she has helped many acquire their dream job in the entertainment industry, Kai Destiny is poised to curate impactful content from an array of upcoming projects. Her past and future collaborations involve some of the most seminal creatives in the industry. She will executive produce several projects including Why Dinosaurs? a paleontology documentary featuring Colin Trevorrow, the director of the recent installments of the Jurassic Park universe, Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Dominion; Wuhan River, a dramatic short film about the discrimination a Chinese Uber driver faces post-pandemic; In Search of Tomorrow, a documentary on the sci-fi films of the 80s with commentary from icons such as Keith David (They Live, Pitch Black), Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters, Oz) and Clancy Brown (The Shawshank Redemption, SpongeBob); and Bloodthirst, an action-horror drama with Costas Mandylor (Virtuosity, SAW) and Tara Reid (American Pie, A Royal Christmas Ball).
In addition, she will co-produce a documentary called King on Screen, about the most adapted author in the world, Stephen King. It will feature more than 25 of the film directors who helped bring the legend’s words to life. Cannes Film Festival nominee, Daphne Baiwir (The Rebellious Olivia de Havilland), will direct. Kai will also co-executive produce the first production from Da Yamms Entertainment, I Hear the Trees Whispering, a slow-burn thriller, in collaboration with Hungarian director, József Gallai (The Poltergeist Diaries, Spirits in the Dark).
Beyond her career, Kai enjoys edifying her local and global community by supporting organizations such as Brown Bag Lady, Beauty 2 The Streetz and Children Incorporated.
